Last night when Mike arrived home from the gym, he had a little visitor waiting for him in the garage. I'm just glad he found it and not me! I would have made way too much noise trying to kill it and then, after making the dogs bark, waking the kids and possibly irritating the neighbors, it would have gotten away leaving me to lay awake all night wondering where it was. I do have to admit, they are neat to look at once they are dead on the McDonald's beverage lid. After doing much research on the internet, Mike and I decided that this is probably a Striped Bark Scorpion. We liked this scorpion identification because the other one it resembled was the the plain old Bark Scorpion whose sting is pretty intense and can really be fatal to babies, small children, old pets and the elderly. Since we have 3 out of the four residing in our household, we decided on the Striped Bark Scorpion. I don't like the idea of either one so I'm thinking of calling an exterminator.
Mike found a scorpion last summer down in the sprinkler valve thingy (really technical, huh!) and he went to town on it with pesticides. Later when he looked in there, it was gone. Come to find out, many websites we visited said scorpions aren't affected by pesticides but, a pick axe works wonders!
