This morning we headed out to the Balloon Fiesta with the kids for the special shapes mass ascension. It was their first time, and Mike's too! Mike and I got up at 4:30, got ready and then woke the kids up, bundled them up, and headed out to Balloon Fiesta Park. We arrived at 5:30, before the Dawn Patrol was even lifting off so we got ourselves coffee and breakfast burritos and the kids (minus Jessica) got to share a cinnamon roll.

The kids started to get antsy because there weren't going to be any balloons launching for about another hour so we bought Z a light saber and Ains a disco butterfly to keep them busy. I thought the pictures were neat!

Then it was showtime so we moved out to the field and got up close and personal while the balloons began to inflate.

Here is a "Zebra"...it's kind of hard to see his tail but he has one. They all wear the ref shirts and some wear a zebra head hat or they even sprayed their hair with black and white stripes. Zebras blow whistles and clear the area each time a balloon is getting ready to take off.

This was a neat balloon. It is an octopus with other sea creatures surrounding it...a starfish, some dolphins, a sea star...I took a few pictures where you can actually make those out but I liked this one when it flew right over my head!
Thirsty anyone?!
It amazes me that they can make so many different shapes!
Z just in awe of all the balloons around...he cheered every time one lifted off.
