The Trap

Ainsley's class has a pesky leprechaun that has been hanging out in their classroom so we built a trap to see if we could catch him!
We cut a hole in the top of a shoebox and filled it with tissue paper. Then, to attract the leprechaun, we nestled a pot of gold in the middle of the tissue paper. When he tries to take the gold, he will fall inside the box.
We left him a "shamrock" to climb up to the top of the box with little bits of gold leading to the pot.
And of course, we didn't want him to get hurt so we gave him a soft landing complete with food to eat! Yes, that is Ainsley's soccer jersey...I made her switch it out for a green washcloth this morning in case we didn't get the project back before Saturday's game!
I have a shamrock plant that I was given when I went away to college (yes, I'm amazed that its still living too!) and I was going to cut some for the trap before we left but I forgot=) Just glad we didn't forget the project!
